I'm at the point where the idea of making goals for myself feels encouraging rather than draining. YES.
I've been moving toward this point for a while, but what really cinched it was this past weekend, during which I: met with my NWSA group for our first official planning session (which was also the first time I'd seen any of these fabulous women in many months), went downtown with
kyonkun, met up with
mahokiwi and
laylah at
ratzeo and
zinjadu's apartment (also the first time seeing them in a while, though luckily not months), and played my first session of
casaval's Harry Potter game.
The NWSA meeting was crucial for lighting a fire under my ass and getting me back to work. These are some of the most amazing, intelligent, powerful women I know, so being in a room with them, and feeling their energy and support, went a long way towards making me feel capable of taking on this conference. And, from there, taking on anti-oppression work in general. (I've started, for better or for worse, thinking about grad school again ...)
The rest of the weekend was more about making me happy enough to keep going with this productivity, rather than being productive in and of itself, but that is also important. :D
So my goals for this week are:
-level Sae for Warmakers on Sunday
-finish twin-fic collaboration with
shadawyn
-finish castle battle fic
-finish Gunnar/Sae RP and/or fic with
ratzeo
-make preliminary sketch for
coramegan's calendar (can be very basic concept design)
-read at least one article for NWSA roundtable and post info for group
-go to gym three times, as I missed days during the last two weeks due to sickness and busy schedule
ETA:
Monday:
-made super-basic concept design for calendar piece; will probably end up fleshing it out this week
-planned out some of Gunnar/Sae RP, wrote some into fic form
-looked at shoes online to begin planning my reward for meeting my goals :3
Tuesday:
-went to gym
-went to grocery store (not on my list of goals, but it was a productive thing I got accomplished)
-got
ratzeo's input on Gunnar/Sae fic, finished writing about half, and planned out the rest
Wednesday:
-went to gym
-finished Gunnar/Sae fic, sent to
ratzeo for review
-wasted time watching American Idol for an hour :/
Thursday:
-finished my sections of the twin-fic and sent to
shadawyn
-wasted time tonight by falling asleep - will need to see if I can get the last section of the castle fic done tomorrow morning if work is slow
Friday:
-finished castle fic
-went to gym
Saturday:
-leveled Sae and other Warmakers prep
-went shopping for shoe reward :3

also yeah, I find that just being around people that are motivated and friendly-energetic helps get me going. (Sometimes, reading politically themed blogs gives me this too, but that is a double-edged sword, because I make the mistake of reading the comments and sometimes that's de-motivating ;D)
I am so excited for this calendar, my god. <3
PEE ESS: so yeah when are you guys free for baccano? We do pretty much never have any weekend plans so therefore are pretty open ^^

I am excited to see how the calendar turns out. I am sort of o_o at coming to it so close to the deadline ... but deep down I know that, even if I had signed up at the beginning, I probably would have ended up procrastinating until now anyway. :P
Ooh, yes, Baccano! The only definite plans I have for my weekends right now are Warmakers every other Sunday. So this weekend my Saturday is free, but next weekend I have no plans. I don't know about the others, but the Canalien is the only one who works on weekends, so.

I'm glad your energy is returning. Being around motivated people helps me, too, but only when I'm just trying to figure out how to focus energy, rather than truly exhausted and burned out.
... I should make a list, too. I got a lot coming up (including trying to get two pieces done for Cora's calendar... ).
Got rewards set up, too? :D

Evil woman. :P Well, my recent fixation has been getting good (and, more importantly, comfortable) work-worthy shoes. So maybe I'll take myself shoe shopping if I meet my goals. :D

Pee Ess: add something in your to-do list about hanging out with me. :( I need an excuse to get out of the apartment this weekend, but if you're busy, then soon? :D
(no subject)
Sounds good! I don't want to add you to my to-do list, though, because I don't want to put a strike through you when I'm done. |D But I'm free all weekend except for Sunday. At the very least, I need to bring you the Idina Menzel CD, and also return your roommate-thingit's book.
(no subject)
I see you are possibly also making plans with Meggie and Laylah, so just -- let me know how that turns out? I AM FREE ALL WEEKEND and the major thing is I want to start getting out and seeing people more, so. :|b We give it a shot soon, yes? :D
