I expect that when Siouxsie Sioux first changed her name in the 70s it was shocking social commentary, or seemed so for a young punk living in London. All others are likely made of fail, and I'm willing to believe Siouxsie's choice was too.

Thanks, I didn't even know about Siouxsie Sioux (thus revealing my ignorance of pop culture history). It makes the naming trend less random, if not any better.

You youngsters have no sense of history. Who would you be without those punk crossover bands of the 70s and 80s?

Actually, I was unaware of the naming trend and wondering what the aging pop star had done to annoy you until I Googled for her and discovered the trend for myself. Then I was mostly sad.
