I hope you're feeling better today! (Cos today is my turn to be home due to the ickies. Blah.)

As for your goals... I've been in a similar place, so I feel like crappy trying to give you advice, but I'd suggest two things I should probably do myself:

1) Revisit why you want to do the things you want to do
2) Start small

Regarding 1, sometimes when I'm stuck on something, I just sit down with a blank screen and start writing about the project--most importantly, what excites me about it? Why am I doing it? Oftentimes, I find, in a backwards way, what has me stumped on the project.

Now in this case, it's a project not yet started, so maybe something more along the lines of "why do I want to do this?"

Regarding 2... just... start small. A 5 minute doodle. A couple of paragraphs.

Mmm... hope I make any sense. Running on very little sleep.

Eesh, I hope you feel better soon! I'm still home sick today - I probably could have made it into work today, but I think this is the same bug I've been fighting off-and-on for a couple of weeks, and I'm trying to beat it for good.

Thanks for the advice. That's smart stuff that should work. I've tried to incorporate "start small" into the techniques I'm using, but somehow I still haven't been able to get myself going.

But what you said about figuring out why I want to do the things I want to do ... that's getting my brain processes going. I think I'll take it one step further, and also ask, "why do I want to do what I do instead?" For instance, I want to write because I want to be creatively productive, which makes me feel fulfilled. But if I, say, putter around the house doing non-essential chores instead, there's a reason I want to do that (even if it's not a good one). If I hold up both reasons to the light and look at them clearly, I think it'll be harder for me to choose the poor reason.

As for how to implement this mental system, I may need to revisit the weekly goals ...
