Although I've sorta ended the fic road with Reika, unless I get a plot bunny of an actual story to tell over the year timeframe, but I've mostly concluded her in terms of development and resolution for the course of the First Wave campaign itself.
Instead, right now, I'm writing back story and a little bit of post-campaign fic for their parents. And maybe I'll do more Numatake stuff (especially for the character I may play later). Or Haruka (EEE!) and Subaru stuff. Or... or...
You know, a long time ago, when you guys were doing the Jedi game and I'd hear you talk about it, and you'd be mentioning all these other characters that sounded somewhat developed that weren't your PCs, I'd get confused by how that worked in an RPG. Now that I've done my own epic campaign... I get the NPC love. :P

I would be in the same boat as you about ending my character's story - I finished all the fics I want to write about what actually happened to Sae during the adventures themselves - except the whole Hell Queen thing leaves so much story open that I don't feel done yet. I'm not sure if that means more fics, or just making lists like what other players have emailed out. Probably that will be influenced by what I find out from Mike about Hell, and whether there's information I want to tell in a written story or not.
Parent!fic? Eee! Haruka?? And pre-angsty Subaru? Ooooh ...
Yeah, NPCs are sometimes hard to keep track of (for me), but it helped that we had so much time to get to know them, as Mike brought them back over multiple episodes. Having some of them as Protectors and cohorts was also useful, at least for me, because that meant they were powerful enough to hang around us and even join in combat without being redshirts. (And it helped me that I was able to actually build a character sheet for Khag and flesh him out.)

And Haruka, to see if it's possible to make her less one dimensional villainess.
And I just love writing the parents. Maybe it's because they are all secret agent spy types, have a fascinating relationship dynamic and aren't angsty, emotional teenagers? ;)

Haruka ... could go a lot of different ways. The twins have character traits that could be exaggerated or twisted to be used in Haruka's character.

Naaaw. ;D

I imagine Haruka as what would happen if Reika and/or Sae ever went evil. I should write about Hiro and Haruka, or maybe about the ritual, but I'm not feeling that creepy and dark at the moment; more woobie ;)
The parents just hit all of my kinks.
... someday I should get back to writing my novels, though :P And maybe cannibalize some characters...

Warmakers fics can occur during novel-writing, right? :D Like if you want to take a break from the current novel without starting a new one.

Reika would definitely have had a hard time trying to exist in the Hashimoto family. As we saw with Haruka, trying revolutionize leads to a bad end, and because of Haruka, we can see that Reika's rebelliousness wasn't just a result of having easy-going Yanagisawa parents. ;) Plus, she would have had Mommy Dearest as competition. I suspect, actually, that Reika would have (tried to) run away if she'd made it long enough. I wonder if the twins would have been so close in that situation, or if they would have been turned on one another?
(Mmmm... AU.)
Or, perhaps, under such a different upbringing, Reika would have turned out a very different person in general.

Hmm ... I do wonder. Sae cares about Reika because she's her sister, but she also likes to feel needed. If Reika had rebelled and come into her own earlier (which I suspect she would have in the repulsive Hashimoto environment), perhaps she and Reika would have been more distant. Or maybe they just would have been close but not codependent. :P
And now I wonder about Sae herself, and whether the evilness of the Hashimoto clan would have subverted her or not (with her low CHA she wouldn't have been good at standing up against them, but her high WIS means she would be strong-willed enough to resist their influence).
... Dammit, look what you've started. ;D

Ah, well, that's pretty much how our relationship works in general. ;D

I like how our relationship works.

So do they unite and take the family down and/or escape, or are they turned on one another in a tragic ending?
(no subject)
Of course, that's for the AU Warmakers fic version. For the novel? You can decide what's more interesting. :D
