1. Yesterday's geeky morning was followed by today's geeky morning, wherein

ratzeo and I spent the bus ride theorizing about Warmakers. 8D

2. The Open Source Boob WTFuckery has been countered with the Open Source Women Back Each Other Up Program, joined by the Gentlemen's Auxiliary.

3. I'm wearing "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" today. The reviews promised a floral scent with a sharp, cold edge. What I'm getting is a pretty floral that's definitely not gentle, but, alas, not the edge I was looking for. Still, it's quite lovely, so I like it a lot. But this means that my search continues for a perfect BPAL scent for Sae. 8D

4. This. Yeah.

5. Progress on The Macho Paradox goes slowly, but steadily. (Rather than beat myself up on the low number of pages I've read, I will focus on the good: that I've been making consistent progress on a theory - however light - book for the first time in months.) My next NWSA research book, Black Sexual Politics, arrived at my house this morning, and The Cult of True Victimhood shipped out today.

I never really found a good Reika scent, "multi-faceted" personality, but Eclipse (bitter almond, vanilla, heliotrope, cinnamon), Persephone (pomegranate and rose), and Hetairae (honey, patchouli, fig, clove, and ylang ylang) came the closest depending on the mood I was going for that session.

Although they are three of my favorite general catalogs scents .

I admit I like the Open Source Swift Kick to the Balls Project, not because it's at all constructive, but because it so glaringly points out the obvious retardedness of the Open Source Boob Project to those who apparently couldn't see it on their own.

Hey, I'm tempted to use Szepasszony, even though it's no sharper then La Belle Dame, just because I like it so much. (Although I could go for the justification that it's an aquatic/clear scent, and "clear" is one of the meanings of "Sae." 8D)

Oh, I like the idea of OSSKBP too. The aggression (in print, of course, not in person ... unless special circumstances called for it) is cathartic, and

misia pulls the satire off with a lot of wit.

For perfumes, I try to evoke the feeling I want. Eclipse is warm, but dark, Persephone is just very pretty and has a strong throw, Hetairae is warm and sexy (at least to me).

No worries! I am in no position to criticize someone for slipping.

I am now intrigued and would like to sniff Eclipse and Hetairae ...

I also really like Persephone - I was surprised by how pretty it was when it only has two (listed) ingredients. Especially since rose easily becomes too strong or cloying to me. The fruit and rose are just balanced really well.

I'll have to think about how the feelings I want translate into a scent. Actually, when I think about it that way, Szepasszony might be the closest I can get. But I still have several imps to try, so we'll see.

Eclipse was the first one I needed a 5ml of, although I don't wear it as often now because I have so many others to choose from. I had avoided Persephone for a long time because for some reason the notes, and that there was just two of them, didn't call out to me, but then I discovered I really liked the smell of pomegranate (at least in BPAL perfumes) and the reviews were so rave on it, especially from people who didn't care for rose, that I had to try it. And I got sucked into the prettiness, too.

The other GC I have a 5ml of is Eden (primarily almond milk and honey with a couple other notes) and it's just a really warm, calming and comforting scent. Sometimes I put in on after work.

(All of my other 5mls are that size because it's the only size I can get them in.)

I've been tempted to get a 5ml Kabuki (red musk, cherry, star anise), though, because it smells exactly like that licorice/anise stuff you eat a spoonful of when leaving an Indian restaurant. Initially, I went "need 5ml NOW" but upon reflection, I decided it's not a scent I'll wear often enough for a 5ml. Yet. For now, I'm concentrating 5ml spending on things that only come in that form.

I have some scents that might be good for Sae, at least how I see her. I'll try to remember to dig them out for you this weekend.

Heh. I found Persephone's description uninteresting for the precise reason that you did. Without the frimp I wouldn't have thought to try it.

I don't know if I'll be getting any other 5ml bottles any time soon, because I haven't found another scent that I love as much as Szepasszony. And I'm not brave enough to be a 5ml of something I haven't tried. :P

Ooh, I'm interested to see what you'd recommend for Sae.
