I'm trying to figure out who is going to overestimate the level of power they need for Gunnar vs. Dragon - your boy or mine.

It's hard to say. Sometimes we make short work of things Mike thinks is going to ruin us, and sometimes he compensates by creating things (demi-lich) that really, really ruin us.

(Apparently, the demi-lich was gonna also summon two pitfiends with him, but we managed to kill him the round before it started...)

And yet, once we could actually lay a hand on the skull, it was short work. Sadly, I think this miss-each-other-a-lot-until-one-hit-causes-game-over type of battle is what we're stuck with for the most part, now that we're so powerful.

I'm hoping Gunnar's battle isn't that short, though. I hear we all get to watch it, and I want a good show. 8D

The main thing is that only two people actually had the ability to hurt the demi-lich (which is part of what made that combat frustrating; at least for me because there was literally nothing I could to it). The pit fiends were supposed to give the rest of us something to crunch on, but since the demi-lich was f-ing us up, we put out everything we had to stop it ASAP. M said that after that round, though, it would have been out of all it's heavy-hitting powers ;)

High level combat is a pain ;)

Man, I wish things had gone for that one extra round. Then everyone would have gotten to participate, and the demi-lich itself would have been less crap-your-pants scary. Alas, the timing of combat is impossible to predict. :/

This is the second campaign I've been in where we've gone epic (I think the Guardians now official count because our ECL is two levels higher?), and I would *not* want to run this kind of combat myself.

Whateveh. It had already "killed" me ;) I was glad to see the combat end!

M has the Guardians are the most powerful beings on Earth (and then some, given the state of the other worlds), IE no more uber level gestalt Warmakers campaigns, unless we are doing an OAV with the (surviving) Guardians again.

Which is kind of a relief :)

Oh, so he won't go with the plan he mentioned way back when, of letting gestalt characters gain a feat every level? XD

He might, but we probably won't get past 12th level or so.
