So I'm reading maho_kiwi's awesome thinky fandom post - and what she describes of Ouran episode 9 makes me want to hurt something, because why oh why does the "feminist as man-hater" strawman have to pop up there too? I like this show - could it just, like, not be stupid?

I dare anyone to actually give me a name of one of those man-hating feminists. Just one. (And it's gotta be an actual feminist, mind you, not an "Ann Coulter says that so-and-so ...") You'll probably never find one, because propaganda tends to fall apart when faced with reality. But people keep buying into propaganda because it's sensational, while reality is, sadly, boring.

Anime creators? Every-damn-bloody-one else? The two are not synonymous. Man-hater : feminist :: shit : chocolate. One thing might look like it's the other, but it ain't.

So can we quit mixing them up? In anime, in books, in comics, in movies? Please, for the love of Pete?

P.S. The reason everyone has bought into this strawman is actually not feminists' doing. Just think: who stands to gain the most by portraying feminists as man-haters?
