It's sad that I'm so excited about doing normal weekend stuff, but it's *because* it's normal weekend stuff. Last weekend I was so debilitated that standing up provided enough of a challenge for two whole days, so this is a great improvement. :P
Friday night I went straight from work to meet
kyonkun for dinner at Blue C Sushi. As I've told some of you guys, it's a pretty good and inexpensive kaiten sushi place. The only problem is that, being as big as it is, it's easier to get the icky stuff that's been rotating for a while and has cooled. But most of the stuff was pretty fresh, and their unagi was quite good. Following that, we went on a mini-shopping spree (yay for seasonal sales). We came home and I passed out around 11:30, my body having decided that eighteen hours awake was enough for me. I can't complain, though, as it has been obeying my unconscionable demands for it to wake up at 5:30 every morning.
Saturday I met up with the girls to talk writing, and discuss goals. I realize that I never set a specific goal, however, so I shall declare it right now to be thus: complete one round of revision on a short story every week, until I get through the queue I have lined up. That's reasonable for me, and hopefully when I'm done with that I will have acclimated to my work schedule enough to make time for fresh writing every night.
That night was supposed to be karaoke, but we had a minor scheduling snafu and couldn't get a room until 1:30 a.m. So, the natural solution?
kyonkun, Michio and I went to the rec center and played catch with some baseballs. :P I learned that, 1) I can't catch with a baseball mitt, 2) I can't really catch anyway, 3) throwing is also a little bit beyond me, and 4) apparently I can hula hoop just fine. After we killed time there we went back to the karaoke place, only by then most of the people had dropped out and there were just four of us. It was a lot of fun, though, getting to do whatever songs we wanted to, and having a smaller group in which to make fools of ourselves. XD
I got back at around 4:00 in the morning, and dragged myself out of bed at 11:00 to meet
zinjadu and
rivendellrose for Batman Begins. But oh, it was worth it. I add my squee of approval to the many that have come already. It was a great movie, and the cast absolutely won me over. Morgan Freeman? Too cute! He made me giggle every time. Gary Oldman? Also too cute! He made me want to pet him. Michael Caine? Far, far too cute, plus Alfred always rules anyway. He made me want to hug him. And Liam Neeson? SMEX. Seriously, it ought to be illegal for that man to kick that much ass. He just *does*. (And oh yeah, Christian Bale was also good. The girl was forgettable, as is often the case in Batman movies, but at least Katie Holmes didn't get really annoying.)
And thus ends my super social (hah) weekend. I'm off to enjoy the rest of my Sunday. :D
