"Christian-right leaders and conservative stalwarts have praised the decision of Bristol Palin, the daughter of Governor Sarah Palin, to carry her child to term. She is 17 and conceived this child out of wedlock. Now imagine she wasn't the daughter of a prominent Republican politician but an average person. Now imagine she was black.

"What do you think conservatives would have to say about her?"

A it behind the times, I suppose, but my opinion is still valid. I believe that she is right to carry the child to term. Even if she was a normal person (of any skin color) or even if she was poor. There is always the choice of adoption. And I also believe that there should be consequences for your actions. She made foolish choices and must bear the fallout from it, although it is unfortunate. I also wish that some sort of similar consequences would fall upon the male who was her partner. It would be a different situation if her life were in danger, but, in the situation outlined above, it is not. I am pretty conservative, but I feel that I am unswayed by politics or fame to a large degree.
