... is going pretty well, all things considered.

I'm actually going to go back to the front desk after my lunch break is over, because I agreed to work half-time at the front desk as we go through the process of hiring my replacement. In one sense, this is not a good thing, because it means I'm still stuck answering the phones for half the day for an undetermined amount of time while taking on the duties of my new job. However, I'm not being expected to take on all the duties of the new job immediately, so I should be able to juggle things fairly well as I transition.

Also, this sort of helps my inner "oh god CHANGE!?" voice, because I get to retreat to the familiarity of the front desk in the afternoons. :P

Also, I am getting paid at my new job rate. Win!

As for the job itself ... The rush of new information is kind of intimidating, as I'd expected. But while I'm feeling challenged, it's challenged in an exhilarating way (mostly), rather than a terrifying way (just a little bit). I will have more responsibilities, sure; but also more freedom, authority, and knowledge. Which is exactly what I want.

Well, it's been about two weeks since my interview/offer. But since we'd already discussed it as a possibility before that, it doesn't feel that fast.

(... though I will probably be complaining about how fast everything is going once I start taking on my new duties in earnest. ;) )

Don't worry about not knowing, because I'm not even sure how to explain it. :P I'm still working on coming up with the 10-second job description. Basically I'm the staff person working on a particular portion of our academic programs ... which means everything from student advising to coordinating with faculty to bureaucratic/administrative stuff. The university uses the classification of "program coordinator" for my type of position, though I don't find that a very descriptive name.
