So, I didn't get the new job.
I have to admit, I feel somewhat relieved. Because I avoid facing the stress of making the choice (stay or go), and also the stress that this fast-paced, higher-responsibility position would entail. And, based on various impressions I'd gotten of the position, I'm not sure I would have considered those stresses worth the benefits of the promotion.
I am, of course, a little disappointed that I wasn't selected, because it never feels good to get rejected from a job. But I was told that I interviewed very well, and they liked my writing samples (which were just papers from school). They hired someone who had more experience than me, which is a weak point that I knew I had.
So. All in all, that went okay, and I'm glad I got the extra interviewing experience.
