Reasons why I like my professor for my Japanese lit and nationalism classes (he teaches the first and co-teaches the latter): Of course the fact that he's, you know, a good teacher comes into play -- his enthusiasm for literature helps boost my admittedly lukewarm reaction to the stuff. And the fact that he's presented accurate descriptions of both feminism and Marxism that discredit the popular stereotypes.

But also? He's rearranged midterms and due dates, the result being that next week isn't going to suck sour frog ass for me, yays! Previously, I had a short story, critiques, and a literature essay due, and a midterm to take, within the space of three days. :o (Now it's all within the space of five days. XD;;)

And also? Inane pop culture references.

-First day of class, a Friends reference (about the episode where Rachel didn't read the book for the book club and Phoebe told her Pride and Prejudice was about robots) to tell us not to rely on other people to tell us what the readings are about.
-On Monday, a poorly retold Jamie Foxx joke about why orgies aren't all they're cracked up to be. "And the punchline ... um, I don't remember how he said it. Something like, why would I want to leave two women unsatisfied? I think ..." He's kind of a dork. XD;;
-Also that day, a retelling of the Twilight Zone episode where all the pig-faced people consider the beautiful woman to be hideous. He was actually illustrating a point about the subjectivity of beauty standards, which had been raised by a satiric piece we had read. But then, after a pause, he continued, "And then there was this SNL send-up of it ..." and continued to recount it. For no real reason. XD;;

Reason why I like my short story professor: He gave me an A/A- on my first short story. (Okay, that's not really why I like him. XD;; He's a good teacher, too. That just made me happy. :D)
