Delicious ranting here. (Skip down past the part about the pets.) An amusing and articulate response to an accusation of 'persecuting' Christians. It sums up my feelings on the matter -- and, really, my feelings about 'reverse discrimination' of any kind. While I certainly agree that there are individual members of marginalized groups (racial, sexual, or religious minorities, for example) who mistreat individual members of the dominant group(s), I don't believe that these reverse '-ism's can exist. A non-Christian being an asshat to a Christian? Sure, can happen. 'Reverse discrimination' against Christians (in the Western world) as a deep-seated, pervasive, even institutionalized form of persecution? No, not really.
There's also a link to a page of unbelievable (but true, apparently) quotes from various prominent (ahem) religious figures in the U.S. Read it and be amazed at such gems as:
"Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of 'kill everyone who doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the name Mohammed.'"
Ann Coulter can blow me. Except I wouldn't want a mouth that spews such crap to be that close to me. On the bright side, it would probably make her mind explode, from a) being a dirty dirty homosexual, and b) having to think too hard about things that didn't fit into the pigeonholes of gender roles, ha.
