I'm taking a little break to celebrate reaching the 1,000-word mark on my short story for Monday's class. That's about one-third of the way (I think ... my outline could be deceiving me), and I'm feeling good about it so far. At the very least, I have a much clearer idea of what's happening, both plot-wise and thematically, than I did at this point when writing my previous story.

I'm also listening to Onitsuka Chihiro's 'best of' CD, The Ultimate Collection, which includes some of my favorites. It focuses more on her slower/mellow stuff, but it's all great. I'd happily pimp it out to anyone who wants to try her out.

It's also freaking beautiful outside, and it looks like it'll stay this way for the rest of the week. The weather should be great for [insanejournal.com profile] kyonkun's birthday on Sunday too, which is impressive for Seattle. I'm highly tempted to take my notebook out with me to the back porch and try writing outside for a bit. (Oh, yeah. Did I mention that I have a back porch? And it's really nice? As is the rest of this house? Hee.)

Maybe I'll make this break *really* exciting and do some cleaning ... XD

Edit: 2000 words! Time for dinner. :D

3011 words. I'm still going strong. In fact, I haven't even reached the climax. Um.

I'm not sure if I should be worried, or happy that the story is moving along this well. Especially considering the fact that I didn't have any semblance of plot until Friday night. In the end, I guess it's better that I have too *much* to write -- let's just hope my inspiration doesn't outlast my ability to stay conscious.

Also, my printer, which crapped out on me when I was in the old house, has suddenly started working again. I have no idea why. It wouldn't print before, and now -- it does. It also would print everything on a single sheet of paper when it *did* print, but it stopped doing that too -- and I know I did *something* towards fixing that problem, but I don't know what, besides deleting and re-installing drivers in a mad frenzy.

So, yes -- things are working, and I'm not entirely sure how or why. I'm hoping this miraculous streak of luck will hold out at least until I get my story completed.
